This book, "The Last of August" is the second book of the series. It continues the story of Charlotte and Jamie and things get messy. Charlotte becomes a more and more dangerous character to Jamie and their relationship grows toxic. The beginning of the book was calm and mellow until they wish that their was a nice crime to cure them of their boredom. Their wish was granted when Charlotte's uncle, Leander Holmes, goes missing. While they struggle to solve this murder Charlotte hides a secret from Jamie as well as Charlotte's family holds a secret from Charlotte. This results in a very messy situation in the end. I would rate this book 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the plot at the beginning but as the book continued it became harder and harder to understand what exactly was happening. There was no 'Ah hah!" moment as there is in other Sherlock Holmes books.
