This was an engrossing film, but the enjoyment is a little undone by the use of mostly non-actors. There were some quality performances, but also moments in the film where the poor acting affected it. Overall, a really well told tale and very engrossing look at poor residents around Disneyland and what their lives are like. SPOILER ALERT - SPOILERS FOLLOW - it is heart breaking to see the difference between a woman (Ashley) working a job and doing what she can to escape the poor situation she sees herself in and the main character (Halley) who resorts to breaking rules, drugs and prostitution to try and provide for herself and her daughter all seemingly because she doesn't like going to a job daily, sticking to an employer's schedule and so forth. The film does a good job of not judging that behavior (which is deplorable) and simply showing it and the impact it has on her, her daughter and the people around them. The kids were outstanding in the film, despite obviously "acting" in some scenes. But their humor and heartache added a lot of gravitas to the storytelling of this film.
