As the 2nd book in the series, this has the luxury of expanding concepts in a known universe so it hangs together better than the 1st book. Cogman focuses on blurring the lines between representative characters while portraying their factions as polar opposites. Cogman's ability to introduce Chekhov's gun with subtlety is weak and some character interactions seem forced at points but on the whole I'd recommend the series.
