The topic of this book demands it be rough. It's a hard read. Emotionally distressing from start to end. Except for the odd spots where it turns into a long, drawn out, incredibly dreary scientific text, or shivers itself into strange melodrama (Greta, I'm sorry for all you went through at the hands of your male author). I recognize that I'm not the right audience for this book. I also recognize the research that went into it, but you have to suspend your belief a lot--especially considering the size of the camps in real life. It's a touch predictable, I feel, and I'm not sure the framing story is necessary, but that's okay. It's all okay. It's an okay book.
