With a Seth Rogen movie, you almost always know what you're getting. Occasionally he'll mix it up, like playing Steve Wozniak in "Steve Jobs," but mostly it's him and his crew making dumb, funny stoner buddy comedies. This is their holiday movie and it's dumb and funny, but also wildly uneven and at least 20 minutes too long. Rogen's joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anthony Mackie (Hey, a black friend!), and, best of all, Michael Shannon in a rare comic turn as a drug dealer. The always delightful Lizzy Caplan is underused. Expect lots of cameos. The church scene may be the funniest. Rogen, JoGoLev, and director Jonathan Levine also worked together on the cancer movie "50/50."
