This book might be touted as a love story between a chef and a food critic, but what it really is is a love letter to Milwaukee, seen through the eyes of an outsider who hadn't really found his footing and a native with a knack for finding all the great stuff. It's a story about real people with real screwups--though some of the resolutions were a little too easy, which is what made this not-quite-the-perfect-story. Also, I really want some deep fried cheese curds right now.
