Incredible movie. Startling scenes and images, all a dark haunting view of bleak humanity as it circles the globe on tracks perpetually covered with snow in a climate-changed post-apocalyptic world. Tilda Swinton is wonderful as a horrible self-serving member of the elite. I've seen this movie many times and each time am astonished and yet delighted (if that's the right word) in the disturbing scenes of how children are used to ensure the train continues its course and how some of the elite exist in their decadent unrestrained depravity. Delightful in how imaginative it is and in how it captivates and the images pierce through the mind's protective layer and leaves them indelibly stamped on the brain. Enjoy!
This movie was allegdly limited in its distribution by non-other than Harvey Weinstein because he had wanted the movie cut by 20 minutes. When he eventually allowed the full cut to be released, he instead insured that unless it was a massive hit, it would have "limited release" in movie theatres meaning many wouldn't ever see it on the massive screens that this movie is no doubt meant for. My how things have changed for both Weinstein but more importantly for Oscar-winning Boon Jung-ho.
