The sisterhood of the traveling pants was a novel filled with secrets, summer, jobs, boys and most importantly, friendship. The book takes place in several places including Oia, Greece; Baja California, Mexico; South Carolina; and Bethesda, Maryland. As four best friends experience the summer of their lives. Leena goes to Greece to see her family, Bridget goes to soccer camp in California, Carmen goes to visit her dad in south Carolina and Tibby is stuck at home in Maryland all by herself with her pet hamster Mimi. I really loved this book, no matter what happened the girls always stayed true to each to her. Sure their friendships had their ups and downs, but what friendship doesn’t? I think that is what I liked about this book the most, the fact that it was so real. Ann Brashers does and excellent way in displaying how close the girls really are, and even if they fight they always come through for each other in the end. I found it interesting to read about their friendship because each girl is completely different. There is a beautiful artist, a sarcastic film maker, an impulsive athlete and a short tempered but extremely thoughtful friend. I liked how each girl had an entirely different summer but somehow their experiences bring them closer together and they learn from their mistakes. The sisterhood of the traveling pants is such an accurate title because the book is exactly that. The pants play such a big role in the book; it was the string that brought all the friends closer together despite the distance between them.
