I love mysteries with an unreliable narrator - that's exactly what Mimi Macy is. An elegant middle-aged woman with a love for beautiful, vintage things who is always trying to keep herself from thinking of disturbing things in her recent past. Hey - let's send her to a deserted island with several other diverse mysterious strangers and just see what the heck happens! Great fun ensues - for the readers, not so much for the characters in this quick read. I do wish the author would have kept up with Mimi's fun fantasy descriptions of items she saw that she would make up stories for in her head - after the first few chapters this quirk of hers seemed to disappear completely for no reason. And while the mysterious murderer wasn't necessarily difficult to figure out, the motives and the way we got there were twisty, turny, and frightening. I look forward to more books from Rachel Howzell Hall!
