I really like Andrea Beatty's humorous books; but this one doesn't stand out as much as some of the other Questioneers to me. It's an all right picture book for children. I enjoyed having the story in rhyme, and the cartoony illustrations that I've come to expect from her books.

Every Andrea Beatty book is a treat, but this one might be my new favorite! This empowering story of making a difference where you are is exactly what people of all ages need to hear.

A lovely and colourful rhyming picture book about a young go-getter named Sofia who loves to help out in her community. Sofia decides it would be a wonderful idea to turn the town's giant junk landfill into a beautiful park for her community, so she builds up the courage to talk to the mayor at city hall and set up a plan to make it happen.

I love Iggy Peck, Rosie Revere and Ada Twist so I was super excited about the new book by Andrea Beaty about Sofia Valdez. This book did not disappoint. A story about how anyone, even a young little girl can make a difference. My three year old was so engaged in this beautiful story and by the end I had tears in eyes. Highly recommended!

Every morning, Abuelo walks Sofia to school . . . until one day, when Abuelo hurts his ankle at a local landfill and he can no longer do so. Sofia (aka Sofi) misses her Abuelo and wonders what she can do about the dangerous Mount Trashmore. Then she gets an idea—the town can turn the slimy mess into a park! She brainstorms and plans and finally works up the courage to go to City Hall—only to be told by a clerk that she can’t build a park because she’s just a kid! Sofia is down but not out, and she sets out to prove what one kid can do.
