I liked this version (CGI) better than the more of a cartoon version. We have seen so many films in the last 40 years with not real beings speaking (From Star Wars on) that I was not distracted by the animals verbal communication. A rrrrrrrrrrremake for sure, which had an awesome musical score. Worth the wait for all you on the holds list!

It perhaps look too real. The children will want CGI versions of all their cartoons. Then they will find reality terribly dsappointing.

.
Amazing CGI (the lion cubs are so damn cute!) but, overall, seemed slightly flat to me. Also, it was too long. The songs seem weird coming from "real" animals as opposed to cartoon animals.
Bottom line is: if you grew up with the original, animated version - you will prefer that one; but kids growing up watching this version will love it.

The photorealistic animation was just amazing. The opening song "Circle of LIfe" and the "Lion Sleeps Tonight" sequence with the jump scare was both worth the price of admission. Felt more of an African culture vibe in this remake compared to the original.

It wasn't great... but it wasn't awful!

Totally impressed with this remake. The CGI animals were amazingly beautiful! I loved that James Earl Jones returned as the voice of Mufasa, and I felt the rest of the casting was spot-on too.

I recall the animated feature film many years ago. It is (and will probably always be) my favorite animated film (by Disney, at least). Suffice it to say, I was skeptical when I heard they were remaking the film as live-action (although it's not really that as most is pure CGI and other digital masking). I suppose, too, I could grade this film with a higher star rating but the voices were ... I don't know ... missing charm and emotion? It was almost as if the voice actors were simply reading their lines and were not instilling any of the originality of the animated film into the overall production. That's not to say the voice actors are not talented b/c they are! And it's a great story! But truly, Disney, as much I value your efforts, did we really need a live-action version of a classic? On that ending note, however, I must admit: Beauty and the Beast (another great animated film) was well done by Disney when they decided to remake it as a live-action. Don't get me started on Aladdin!

Pumbaa: Hey, Timon, ever wonder what those sparkly dots are up there?

Timon: Pumbaa, I don't wonder; I know.

Pumbaa: Oh. What are they?

Timon: They're fireflies. Fireflies that, uh... got stuck up on that big bluish-black thing.

Pumbaa: Oh, gee. I always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away.

Timon: Pumbaa, with you, everything's gas.
