A kidnapped little girl locked in a stranger's van. No help for miles. What would you do? Darby Thorne is a college student stranded by a blizzard at a highway rest stop in the middle of nowhere. She's on the way home to see her sick mother. She'll have to spend the night in the rest stop with four complete strangers. Then she stumbles across a little girl locked inside one of their parked cars. There is no cell phone reception, no telephone, no way out because of the snow, and she doesn't know which one of the other travelers is the kidnapper. Unrealistic & predictable !

A nail biting stay up and read book. Yes it is violent, but so are most high tense reads. If you are looking for a way to spend a raining day I would recommend this roller coaster book.

This book had potential, and I can honestly say I enjoyed the first half. The author did an effective job of creating his trapped rest stop atmosphere, the development was initially quick, and I was surprised by a twist. BUT then a racist joke happened (that could have instead just been insinuated, for horrible-character development sake) and I mentally checked out. From around that point, the plotline dragged on too long and that twisted feeling was lost, instead replaced with gore and attempted shock value. I think this one would make a decent movie, but it fizzled out for me as a read. And that's the tea.

This book is not one I would recommend to anyone.

I didn't care for this one very much. It had potential as it was good on character development but a hot mess everywhere else. Extremely violent.

Very readable! Read this as a palate cleanser between some heavier books. Did the trick!

A New & Noteworthy pick. A 19-year-old American beauty marries the son of a duke and becomes Lady Randolph Churchill. Here is the story of the mother of Winston Churchill.

I began reading and finished this book in less than a day.
This is a taut, fast paced "thriller" in the true sense. I’ve read hundreds of books in the “thriller genre” and few have lived up to being a thriller. Suspenseful, yes, thriller, no way. This book is an exception. Masterfully written, it puts the reader on the razors edge, breath held, heart racing, cannot put it down from the beginning to the very last page.
In 2017 the film rights in Taylor Adams' “No Exit”, were sold to Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox. (Looking forward to the upcoming movie version and hope it's as good.)
Protagonist University of Colorado student Darby Thorne is driving home to visit her dying mother in a Utah hospital. It’s December, nearly Christmas. She is caught in a horrendous blizzard in Colorado’s mountains. Eventually she is forced to pull into a remote rest stop where she meets 4 other stranded motorists. While walking through the parking lot, she discovers a little girl, held prisoner in the back of a van. Unable to set her free, without cell or phone reception and trapped by the snow, she returns to the rest stop centre to determine which of the 4 strangers has kidnapped the little girl. She plans to do this without revealing anything about the kidnapping.
Is the story plausible? It could be. Is it full of suspense? Definitely. It has the creepy, evil, scary quality of Stephen King’s writing, without eerie fantasy in the story.
Some readers may complain it’s somewhat far-fetched and give it a low rating. I disagree. It feels like a realistic scenario. If it did not contain some questionably impossible moments, it wouldn’t be a thriller. Real life can be stranger than fiction. It was an excellent read for this writer.
