It was an okay read, but I struggled with so many characters and the dialogues between them. The premise of going to a 10-day life changing spa experience was interesting, and despite all that happened to them, it was an awakening for the 9 guests. The ending was a happy walk into the sunset for the nine guests and at least one of the employees.

I like Liane Moriarty - and I especially like her audiobook narrator, who seems to consistently work with her.

Moriarty books seem to always start with the typical middle class person experiencing some sort of crisis that seems frivolous and shallow, then as the story moves along, the layers peel back and we see the real person and a good story under the surface. That said, I wasn't really connected to the characters, bar Napoleon. Actually, I really feel like the whole book should have been from the men's perspective - I preferred their perspective overall to any of the womens' stories. The spa/resort employees were cardboard.

I enjoyed it. Kept me tuned in on the commute. Someone else mentioned it was supposed to be a thriller - in that respect, this was not that. It had some tension, though, and some of Marcia's "therapies" are things I've actually been reading about, so that was entertaining to see it pop up here.

Enjoyed the first half - great character development & plausible story line; felt it derailed midway through and just never got the momentum going again. She does attempt to tie all the loose ends together at the end. Overall, not my favourite Moriarty title.

Very funny and I love how the author seems to create credible characters.

Disappointing book. Schlock writing, stupid plot. Don't waste your time.

In the book with the same title, NINE PERFECT STRANGERS check in to a remote, luxury health resort looking to transform their lives. They each have a personal reason for their visit. Author Liane Moriarty has a knack for creating vivid, relatable characters, warts and all, while slowly revealing what lies beneath the surface of each player. And in this regard with the first half of the book Moriarty succeeds, but midway the plot takes a bizarre turn which strained credibility and unfortunately, derailed my enjoyment. The author redeems herself somewhat at the end with an interesting wrap up of the various storylines. While I didn’t hate this book (it was a nice enough end-of-summer read), it just wasn’t up to Moriarty’s previous standards (THE HUSBAND’S SECRET and BIG LITTLE LIES).

I wouldn’t say this was my favorite of Moriarty’s book, but in true Moriarty fashion, she didn’t disappoint. There is a lot of depth to each of the characters and even though the story takes place over the course of a few days, SO much happens. To be honest I myself felt a bit transformed by the end of the “week”.

I feel the ending of this book was particularly satisfying and it was illuminating on so many levels. I can’t say much more than that about this book without giving away any spoilers, but I assure you it is worth the read.

I waited months for this eAudiobook to become available at the library, and it was so worth the wait. Caroline Lee is a master of her craft, and she adds so much pizazz to the story with her excellent character voices.
