We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Green draws from the ideas and examples of the ages to teach us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, he offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defense. -- adapted from publisher info

Another book based on Machiavellian principles. It is similar to 48 laws of power but now is less concerned with the need to be an alpha, instead this book delves into why we want these things and puts an emphasis on self-improvement, psychological self defense, and success. I rate this book 5/5 for an interactive guide on the motives and skills one should build up to become a better person. I recommend this book to those who are interested in understanding human desires and why we have them. Anyone with an interest in the department of psychology will find this a good read. @selfhelpguru of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
