The Storm Runner had an engaging plot and imaginative characters combined with Mayan mythology. I really did enjoy reading this book. However, I don't quite like the author's writing style. In my opinion, the author has an annoying tendency of stating the obvious, and uses too many exclamation points to the point of excess. Overall, it was a satisfactory book and I will be looking forward to the next in the series (If there is one).

Zane Obispo’s mother is making him attend a private school after a blissful year of being home schooled. Zane is not excited because in the past other students have bullied him about using a cane when he walks. He would much rather explore the volcano behind his house with his dog, Rosie. On one of Zane’s exploits up the volcano, he and Rosie witness a plane crash with an unusual creature that only he can see. Then a mysterious girl named Brooks tells Zane that he is destined to release something horrible that is imprisoned inside the volcano. Zane and Brooks set off on an adventure filled with epic battles, Mayan gods, and even a chicken! Along the journey, Zane’s inner strength is tested as he learns about his past. A fun and exciting read, fans of Percy Jackson will devour this story and be clamoring for more books starring Zane.

Lovisiana's Way home is a wonderful book! It was very heart felt and motivating. Every letter in this book was amazing with feeling. I especially loved when Louisiana sang, it reminds me of who we can be if we give it our all. I also loved how DiEamillo writes"Granny's" letter. This book is a must-read!

This is the 2nd book out in the Rick Riordan Presents imprint and the 1st in a new series about Mayan mythology by J.C. Cervantes. It's action-packed and sure to be a hit with fans of Rick Riordan's other mythology-based series.
