Absolutely speechless the library decided to label this book, "White, Stanford." Did someone merely open the book jacket, see White's name and use it? Not bother to read enough to realize cover photo and the woman who WAS called "The Girl On the Red Velvet Swing" were real?

REAL Evelyn Nesbit. I told the Pico employees. They acted as if I were bothering them. Never mind the facts, folks.

As for the book, too soon to tell. Just checked it out.

Remember, this is about EVELYN Nesbit. Not Stanny White. Not Harry Thaw. This is THE story of a beautiful young teen sexually abused by older, more powerful men. And the price she paid. Plus the rise of gossip news. And so much more.

It's fascinating to me so much is written about Evelyn. I am a good friend with the author of "American Eve," an earlier book about these REAL ppl. I also find it interesting the cover photo and most photos of Evelyn Nesbit are still iconic. Whether or not people know her story. But thanks to these books, a film of the same name, Evelyn Nesbit's story is still timely.

Today's news tell similar stories. A powerful man and a younger beautiful, but far less wealthy and in many cases, impoverished, and often less educated woman. Only the names change.
