His journey provides an unprecedented entry into the corridors of power, and a remarkable lesson in what makes an effective leader. Mr. Comey served as director of the FBI from 2013 to 2017, appointed to the post by President Barack Obama. He previously served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. deputy attorney general in the administration of President George W. Bush. From prosecuting the Mafia and Martha Stewart to helping change the Bush administration's policies on torture and electronic surveillance, overseeing the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation as well as ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Comey has been involved in some of the most consequential cases and policies of recent history.

Very powerful book written in an insightful, down-to-earth style. A must-read!

very easy to read even as the second language in English. and contents was very surprising,
since I did not know the justice system in the State, it was very educational but most of all the present Presidency's craziness could keep going on.
as he mentioned this is just like forest-fire and we can expect good thing coming soon after

This is a well-written account of Jim Comey's career and the events that led to him being fired as FBI Director. It's not a means to trash anyone. He expresses his opinions, but he also provides the reasoned grounds for that opinion.

Comey provides insight into his thoughts, his leadership style and his own moral compass. It's unfortunate he is no longer working as a public servant.

Several times, Comey makes a point by asking the reader to substitute another person taking the same action as Donald Trump. He asks, what if the same had been done by President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama, or President Hillary Clinton? It becomes clear that the behavior and actions of the 45th president are not normal, and many are unethical.

Regardless of your political leanings, read this book with an open mind, and you will gain from your action.

Oddly, the parts of this book I liked least were the introduction and the ending. Everything in between was quite fascinating. Comey provides an interesting look into the different White House personalities he's worked with as well as an "inside baseball" recounting of how key issues were handled within each administration. I picked up this book expecting to learn even more about what went on with Trump but was rewarded by learning what also went on with Obama, Bush ("W"), and Cheney.

Lots of compelling stories you won't find elsewhere.

I expected political trash talk and was pleasantly surprised to hear some down to earth talk about FBI and its core value of party neutrality. Comey did a great job of explaining the roles and challenges of the FBI and Department of Justice as they handle investigations. Comey's life takes up many pages but I figure that is the intent when you write about yourself and your experiences. If a reader can put aside personal politics there is much to learn and appreciate in this book.

Worth reading, though not sure what/who he means when talking about "higher" loyalty.
Wanted to tell him; it's okay to believe in God as a "higher" loyalty to whom you'll be held accountable.

James Comey pats himself on the back for 275 pages.

I've had this book on hold for a very long time now and just when I reached near the top of the queue, it was revealed in the news (June 14, 2018) that Comey used a personal gmail account for FBI business. Therefore, I believe the book is a farce, he's a total hypocrite, and I'm not going to waste my time reading it after all.
