Follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.

This is a good one--I'll remember this movie long after I've forgotten dozens of others, many of them "must see", "major" movies. I promise: no keep reading. This is a must-see for all the right reasons.

First: it grips the viewer from the very beginning.
Second: the tension never lets up from then on. I mean "life-and-death" tension. When a soldier stands up, you think: Jeez, get down you jerk! You're gonna die!
Third: the way the "enemy" is treated...and the backstories of BOTH protagonists.
Fourth: the ending is stunning (more about that a few lines from now.)

It's proof you don't need big-name stars (one of the two feature players is a pro wrestler, for Gawd's sake), big budgets (this one's minor, at $10 million) or on-location filming. You don't need music, either. What you need is a good story with a terrific twist, well-made...with a scalpel, not a hammer.

This movie is remarkable for these reasons:
1. The feature began as the first "spec" script purchased by amazon. Great decision!
2. The director wanted to shoot in the ME, but "safety" concerns kept the shoot in western US desert. Maybe budget concerns, too. However, an Iraq-war vet hired as consultant said the setting was right. A bit of old-time Hollywood!
3. Original cut had a different ending. After receiving pre-release screening comments, Director Doug Liman (Bourne Identity; Edge of Tomorrow) went back to Amazon, cap-in-hand, and said "we gotta reshoot"--and got more money to do it! Another Great decision!
4. Movie has made nice money: over TEN TIMES it's low-budget cost.

Word's spread. close to 150 people waiting to rent this. Be another.

Along the lines of the 2001 Foreign Film, No Man's Land. This is a great movie providing a glimpse into the background training and resourcefulness of one soldier, meticulously shot by a sniper in a manner that will leave him the most disabled, yet still alive. It is a psychological twister between the sniper and soldier. A game which the sniper excels at and which the soldier finally realizes. While the movie may seem slow, it is executed with minute precision. Excellent movie. Not for the faint of heart.

Terrible message. The American soldier is depicted as unintelligent and inferior.

This movie frustrated me to no end. I kept asking myself why doesn't he just kill the MF already? I mean, it seemed to me anyway that if he could reach the radio then shouldn't he (Taylor-Johnson) have a good enough idea how to pinpoint the shooter's position??? Am I the only one asking this question? And then why does he take so long to tell rescue that there's a shooter?

A most unusual war movie. It’s mostly a psychological cat and mouse game but with a twist or two. Like “Dunkirk”, the enemy is everpresent but rarely seen. Worth a look.

Things never end well with terrorists involved.

I would think this movie would enrage some service men because this movie show them as stupid and unprofessional. much profanity used.

One of the better recent DVD releases of late. Enough action to keep the plot tense and manages to avoid the politics of which side's right or wrong; much like an older film "Hell in the Pacific" starring a favourite actor of mine from mid last century- Lee Marvin. Tho "H.i.t.P" deals with the humanities of warring foes in more detail- some quite funny. Check 'em both out.

This is a OK, I have nothing else to do movie.

Interesting war themed thriller about a soldier pinned by an enemy sniper; never dull.
