I expected an overly sentimental homage to a man who helped a few people. Instead I got a movie about a group of people working together, refusing to accept defeat, and putting neighbors before themselves. The ease with which a few extremists were able to overthrow a government is especially poignant in late 2017.

Many years ago I worked with a lady from Hungary. She had a number on her arm & I asked her about it. She was a little girl, and put in a camp with her family, even though they were not Jewish. They were Christian.
This film is so rich in the history of the German occupation in Hungary, and the brutalization of the Jews. Some of the Jewish were saved through the workings of groups, one man in particular. The SS were brutal. To have stood up to them is amazing. That is what this film is about.I would say this is a 'need to see' film. It has a great story, well presented, and high production value.

Amazing movie! You have to see it to believe it. The actors were picked carefully who bear striking resemblance to the original people. Movie is very well done, has also won many awards in film festivals.

This (based on a true) story was VERY interesting. However, the movie itself was not very well done in spite of Ben Kingsley. He had a very minor part.

Inspiring, true story. Well worth watching. For all of man's brutality against man, there is also miraculous kindness and bravery.
