Just reading Nujeen's account of her and her sister's journey from Syria to Germany exhausted me, I can't imagine how these refugees have the perseverance, will, resourcefulness and enough luck to make the journey- and then arrive to face many unwelcome countries along the way as well as dangers, smugglers who rip them off, along with being heartbroken about the family members they have lost and/or left behind.
I wish everyone who sees the migrants on TV would read this book and learn of the terrifying ordeals these people go through before they even begin their journey.
Nujeen's story is more interesting because her sister pushed her the whole way in a wheelchair, they did receive some help from strangers but others just pushed in front of her in lines. She has cerebral palsy and with a matter of fact explanation of her situation(which had been mostly confined to her family's apartment due to lack of handicapped facilities in Damascus) she learned as much about the world as she could through TV, a laptop, she never went to school until she reached Germany and started when she was 17.
She and her sister overcame such obstacles on their own it was a very inspiring story.

Nojeen Mustafa is from Syria, has cerebral palsy, and cannot walk. This is the story of her childhood, and what it's really like to be a disabled refugee during her harrowing escape from Syria to Germany.
