A creepy yet thrilling horror book for teens set near the same insane asylum as the first book, but this time also includes a sinister circus too. The eerie black and white photos included definitely add to the story. For fans of Ransom Riggs and Rin Chupeco.

Compared to the first one, this book is pretty awful. It's really slow, not a lot happens, the characters are dry -- and the plot is ridiculous and full of holes that hinder the suspension of disbelief. Skimmed the whole middle, definitely nothing compared to the first. Lacks the horror factor Asylum boasted so well.

the pictures are creepy and add to the general aura of the book. I had actually thought in the first book that _____________ would be the villain but they turned out to be the villain in this book instead. i was wondering if anyone else had predicted that as well?

The first half of this book was great, and even better than the first book, but the second half makes the mistake of trying to explain what's going on and ends up shoehorning in some plot elements that don't make sense and ends up making it unclear exactly what the motivation of the main villain is. Instead of the intense mind screw of the first book, Dan, Abby, and Jordan now have to run the gauntlet of horror cliches - creepy carnival, evil cult, town with a dark secret, mind control, etc - and it doesn't quite all come together. The first half was really good, and then the second half was a let-down. Worth reading if you liked the first book.

This is an amazing, chilling sequel to the first thriller. The additional pictures, characters and plot really got to my head. The entire book from beginning to end gave me chills, creeped me out alot, and gave me intense adrenaline and feels for the characters. I love this book from the suspenseful beginning to the chilling very end!
