Lovely historical fiction, and definitely well-researched. Mosse does a good job of fully fleshing out her story, without over-explanation. It can be difficult to follow at points, due to the shifting time periods, but is overall a good read, and worth the time.

The author, Ms. Mosse, has a lovely lyrical writing style and accurately covers both the historical period, and the ancient sect of the Catholic Church, something I suffered for a bit when, as an youth raised in a Catholic orphanage, I came across this bit of history and sect when doing mandatory religious reading and questioned my keepers on this, as it turned out, "forbidden" subject. The author brilliantly nails the reasons for it being a "forbidden" subject with the Church of Rome. And for romance lovers, a truly enjoyable novel.

Very enjoyable read--very descriptive, and engaging story line in a historically authentic setting. Worth your while.

A modern page-turner; good mystery, good story, good historical connections. The author also does a nice job of tying in the Rennes-le-Chateau and Rennes-les-Bains mysteries and other actual events and people.
