EARLY LEARNING: NUMBERS & COUNTING. Count down from 10 to 1 in this playful interactive exploration of the shapes that make up our favourite animals. The shapes, at first, are lined up neatly in rows. But, at the turn of the page, they're mixed up, moved around and reshaped into all kinds of animals! Buzzy and clucky and scaly and sluuuurpy! Look - these green shapes reshape into scaly things. What they could be? Turn the page to reveal ...of course! 3 alligators, snip, snap and snappy! As we visit ten groups of shapes, can you try and guess what animal the shapes will become before the shapes reshape? (But, with the animals getting bigger and more ferocious each time, watch out for a rather fiery finale!).

A fun way to not only reinforce numeracy skills (counting backward from 10), but also prompts children to guess what the shapes could create. The use of alliteration is also a nice touch, and helps develop vocabulary.

This book is definitely one to use in a classroom setting to be immediately followed by a paper craft as the insides are enjoyable, but the cover is quite uninviting.

This book is great for learning numbers! I took it out for the kids at my work and it was actually a really fun book to read. It teaches numbers from 1-10 and shows how shapes can be used together to make images. It was fun for the kids to guess which type of animal the shapes would reshape into. There is not much of a plot or story line, it is more of a 123 numbers book.
