You don't have to be a dog person to enjoy this book, very reminiscent of 'The Art of racing in the rain'. Mr. Bones, our narrator, is a heinz57 dog with a very loyal heart. He loves his master, Willie G. Christmas, and together they have been all over the USA. Willie is road worn and now, knowing he is dying, is on a quest to find his old high school teacher who he believes will take in Mr. Bones. Not young himself, over his entire life Mr. Bones has known no other companion. Willie has taught him many things but sadly, not to read. He tried to teach him to speak English but Mr. Bones tells us his anatomy just didn't allow it. He is a thoughtful dog and his dilemma and how he solves it will affect you. A quick read with a lasting impression.
