This book is about an astronaut who did not like to go to sleep and didn't want to take showers. This is very unusual because he is different from other people, not everyone's the same. Some people can be special but in their own way. He couldn't sleep in his room because it is very dark and he is also afraid of having an encounter with an alien! Chris Hadfield actually went to space which makes this book so much more realistic. This is a very interesting book, you should definitely read it. As he mentioned in the book sometimes dreams can come true, I don't want to give it all way so to find out more you should borrow this book. Rating 5/5

A beautifully illustrated picture book that explains the origins of Chris Hadfield's interest in space. Also serves as a great read for those youngsters who may be afraid of the dark -- who may never have considered the dark being so full of wonderment and possibility in a positive way.

My little guy got this for Christmas from his grandparents, and it's so lovely. It's a quiet, true tale of a young boy who's afraid of the dark and longs to be an astronaut; after witnessing the moon landing on a tv one summer night in cottage country, his life changes.

The story is cute (and possibly therapeutic for sleep-deprived parents), but the illustrations are what really make this gem. Adorably spooky aliens lurk in a dreamy twinkling twilight, and dreams are vividly rendered. My son savours each page. Highly recommended to any picture book-aged kids, and especially to those who love space or are scared of the dark.

Interesting story about the dark (fabulous realistic illustrations-love the pug!) has a twist at the end when the main character watches the moon landing - this picture book is suddenly historical fiction! Wait it's actually suddenly a biography about Astronaut Chris Hadfield, who uses the vast darkness of outer space to overcome the more manageable darkness of his bedroom. Cool book.

Really neat picture book, especially because it was written by a Canadian astronaut remembering his childhood. Lovely illustrations.
