Ash is the stock boy, who is an aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons; personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its "Evil" grip.

Great story, cast and music (it begins with Deep Purple's Space Truckin') with plenty of funny gory moments and hilarious sarcasms. One of the best things about it is the plot does not follow the boring pattern / structures of a usual American series. There are some sequences that may be scary too if you're watching it late at night, alone in the dark !

I think you definitely need to be a fan of the original trilogy to enjoy this series, but it comes together surprisingly well for something that was last visited upon some 25+ years ago. It's what you'd expect. Lot's of humor, slapstick, a guest spot by Xena, and buckets upon buckets of blood. Bruce Campbell may be older, but he's just as heroic and stupid (plus much sleazier) as he was before. Ten episodes, 1/2 hour each, so it's a fairly quick view of the season.

To me, it was just senseless gore & sex, & made no (ahem) sense.
Couldn't even get thru the first disc.
Walking Dead is soooo much better, by a long shot.

I was worried when they said they were making an Evil Dead TV show all these years later, but they got it just right. Everything from the music to the over-the-top retro gore to Bruce Campbell's take on an aging (but in denial) Ash is exactly what you'd want it to be. I loved it!
