I love Denise Grover Swank's writing. She has a way of making you really understand her characters. I liked Sophie, but at times I found her a little whiny. I do wish she had mentioned her abuse at Dale's hands and at Camille's sooner. I loved how she and her brother Eric became closer during the summer. It was a fun book, vaguely reminiscent of Anna and the French Kiss by Perkins, but with the addition of an evil step sister.

Still, I found myself wanting more. This book was extremely enjoyable at the time, but it fails to distinguish itself from other contemporary fiction out there. Good, fun, light, and enjoyable, but not necessarily memorable.
