I love this man's prose, even if the stream-of-consciousness style gets confusing sometimes. Rodriguez understands that chasing the American dream has cost him some peace, has worn away a piece of his soul, but he knows too that it was worth it. The chapter devoted to Joaquin Murrieta is priceless, is worth the effort to be with him on this quixotic search.
The third book of his that I've read, they are all worthwhile.
Dated, and provincial; the book jacket promises more than it delivers.
