At the moment when the Sudan, the continent's biggest country, is being divided into two nations, an old civilizing pathology re-emerges: that of colonialism, clash of empires, and yet new episodes of bloody (and holy) wars over land and resources. The director Hubert Sauper flies a plane into South Sudan, interviewing residents, Chinese oil workers, UN peacekeepers, warlords and American evangelists.

The title is a sick joke relating to non-Africans coming to Africa in general and South Sudan in particular who with one hand pretend to be friends but with the other hand rape the Africans of their resources. One case would be the centuries of imperialism by those holy white Christians. The second would be the Chinese that take the oil, employing only racist Chinese for the good jobs. And the third would be the white Christians brainwashing the Africans with their religious beliefs, mainly that even though the whites and Chinese were polluting their lands and extracting their resources for a pittance, the Africans would live a better existence in the afterlife. Ayn Rand would say that the ignorant uncivilized Africans deserve to be dominated by the smarter genius Europeans.

Has some very interesting information but lacked coherency or any kind of story arc.

Interesting to see the Chinese are accessing African resources with only slightly less disregard for Africa than the Europeans. Environmental devastation is not a primary concern for the industrial invaders, so indigenous health is effected, just like Canada. This doc could use a little more 'there' there.
