Came across this one by chance and thought "why not". So glad I got it and watched it. I could and would for sure watch it again. I thought at first it would feel far too dated. But I was easily able to watch it. Great Performances, Great script.... loved it.

Television simply doesn't get any better than this. Done in that inimitable seventies style where dialogue and acting take precedence over production design. That being said, it is also beautiful with magnificent camera work. Fine art is never dated.

Great but now feels dated and shrill. Still worth watching for the history. The book is fantastic

Any Derek Jacobi fan will love this 12 part historical drama mini-series based on the the novels of Robert Graves. Having recently ready the novel "I, Claudius" which is covered in episodes 1-9, I was simply delighted by the outstanding performances by all of the actors. Mr. Jacobi becomes the stuttering, lame and seemingly half-wit Claudius he plays. You will most certainly enjoy binge-watching this series set in the tempestuous time of Imperial Rome.

Rated within the top 100 of all time best films. This is a wonderfully acted and portrayed version of history. A time when democracy was in decline, corruption was prevalent and government was losing influence and money...hummm sound familiar? Robert Graves is brilliant and has admitted to fitting history to his story. Don't miss this classic.

A great miniseries. Like Game of Thrones? this might be fore you. Scheming women, incest, and a superb cast including Derek Jacobi, Patrick Stewart, Brian Blessed, and John Hurt

Unforgettable BBC TV series that shows for all time what can be done with superb acting and scripts, a low budget, minimal sets and no special effects. Derek Jacobi as Claudius, Sian Phillips as Livia, John Hurt as Caligula, Brian Blessed as Augustus, and Patrick Stewart as Sejanus are particular standouts in a cast with no weak links. Totally addictive, eminently rewatchable television.

Great dramatic exposition and character speculation ,..tempered by the remaining historical record ! ( ... except that I don't believe such a master politico as Caesar Agustus was so easily manipulated by his wife !!?)
