A tense psychological thriller, featuring a supporting cast of Canadian actors, including Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black). This is the second Emma Watson film I've seen with a story about cults (the other one being "Colonia"), which makes me wonder if she has a particular interest in this topic as an actor. Either way, her performance is excellent, even if the rest of the film isn't.

I think what makes this movie interesting is that it's inspired by real events in 1990 and there is a slightly unexpected twist at the end.

This film was rather disappointing. While it is based on true events, and Emma Watson's acting is good, it was rather tedious to watch. The relationships felt rushed and could have used more flushing out. Ethan Hawkes character was annoying, and clearly easily manipulated. It had great potential to be a good psychological thriller but falls short.

The movie needed more thrill....little dull

This movie has an interesting hook -- recovered memory therapy as police detective-vs.-Satanists whodunnit -- but in the end you'll find yourself struggling, like Ethan Hawke's character, to stay awake. REGRESSION is set in the '90s in the American heartland, a time when seemingly every suburb was roiled by pedophilia rings and black magic cults brought to light thanks to the recovered memories of children victims. David Thewlis is excellent as Hawke's psychologist sidekick.

Imagine if you rewrote Arthur Miller's THE CRUCIBLE as a twisty-turny horror thriller set during the "Satanic Panic" era of late 1980s and early 1990s. I liked this movie.

This may not be the worst movie ever made, but it is close.
