If I had to describe this film, I would describe it as ugly. No continuity, no real acting, no story line. I would not recommend this for anyone to watch. Makes me think the cast and crew had to be under the influence of something pretty strong in order to get through it.

21 Grams - the weight of the soul as measured at post-mortem. It's an OK movie.

The storytelling is messy and confusing, however Benicio Del Toro is worth watching.

A very tragic and gritty story with no sugar coating, no neatly packaged happy ending, which I appreciated. Naomi Watts' performance was very good. Didn't particularly like the way the story was told though-- with all of the flashbacks.

I concur with the views of the previous commenters. Strangely organized sequences of this story chaotically funneled into a bizarre ending. And again, strong acting performances by Naomi Watts & Sean Penn. (Benicio Del Toro seemed kind of 'stiff'.) It's a pity - this one had potential.

Right from the get-go, this film lacks any fighting chance, since it's based on a morbid, completely unbelievable story, written by its unjustifiably self-confident producer/director Alejandro González Iñárritu. (The plot includes a heart transplant--a topic any credible screenwriter should avoid like the plague.) As if that weren't bad enough, the film is also hampered by the director's pompous, heavy-handed technique of fragmenting the narrative by presenting events out of sequence all the time. But--despite everything else (& man, do I hate having to say this)--the acting is decent, especially Naomi Watts' & Sean Penn's performances.

Fair - 21 Grams (2003) 124 min. What a great movie this would've been if not for the editing. The problem with the film is that empathy is sorely lacking for the characters because events are shown not in chronological order but at random. As a result, scenes to which the viewer should be feeling something for the character in question is compromised because we don't understand why the character is feeling the way they're feeling. Too bad because this film has Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benecio Del Torro.
