Great book! Really interested world and complex, interesting characters.

One of my favorite writers and series. It's quirky, and may not always reflect my own thinking, or values, but I think that's good for a reader...it stretches me. It's great storytelling, and I'm endlessly fascinated by Bujold's boundless imagination and amazing grasp of what makes us human. The way she connects the books in a long, subltle story arc, and her skill at plotting, character development and humor make Bujold among the science fiction greats. This multiple science fiction literary prize winner has created a saga that's been translated into 21 languages and attracted readers across genres. Miles is a marvelous character, but no more intriguing to me than Aral and Cordelia, and the quality, smart, flawed, fascinating people that they surround themselves with. Read them in order for the most satisfying experience, and they are marvelous on audio as well.

I loved this book. It was the beginning of a passionate relationship with Aral, Cordelia and their stunted, funny, genius son Myles. The universe Lois McMaster Bujold has created is more real and believable than most in SciFi, and shows an enduring grasp on what is, in fact, feasible science.

Lois McMaster Bujold writes with a clarity of scene-setting, crisp dialogue, and a crystal clear vision of moral choices unmatched by any other author of this genre.

Go on - read it. You wont look back

First (?) in a great series involving Miles Vorkosigan, a true military genius trapped in a runty, somewhat deformed body.
A good heart and a brilliant mind can rise above any fray (at least in sci-fi novels).
