This is a great book for older kids and young teens to learn the history of Pride celebrations and the diversity it represents. It covers the Stonewall riots and explains why Pride is important—because not long ago it was hard to be gay even in Canada. It introduces them to the spectrum of genders and orientations that people observe now without going into too much detail.

What I appreciated, too, is that it explained how there are some points of debate and tension even within the LGBT+ community (for example, that mainstream Pride festivals have become very corporate), but without getting too absorbed in them. For younger readers it's a great and easy intro to all this. For everyone else it's an appreciation of Pride full of nice pictures from around the world.

A comprehensive recent history of Pride celebrations. For me, the most useful part of the book was the glossary of the often-confusing terms and acronyms used by members of the various communities covered by the book.
