This would be a great book to have in a doctor's waiting room, or especially in the waiting room of a hospital's pediatric X-ray department. It's great for sharing with children who actually need X-rays, but it also presents information that will be of interest to many children. The book combines a story about a girl who broke her arm with factual information about X-rays, ultrasounds and MRIs and even includes copies of 4 actual X-rays, 1 MRI and 1 ultrasound of an unborn baby. It would work as solo reading for 1st and 2nd graders and also as a read-aloud, with appropriate modifications, for preschool children of various ages. I first discovered it when looking for a book to help introduce the letter X to a preK class, and it works well for that purpose too!
