This 2-disc set is a celebrity-documentary. Its basic gist is to cover pop-icon, David Bowie's career as a singer/songwriter in his early years from 1969-1971.

This was the era when Bowie was still "testing the ground", so to speak - And, as things stood, it clearly looked as though the direction in which his music was heading was into the realm of glam rock.

Disc #2 of this set is a compilation of 10, TV interviews that showcased Bowie throughout the course of his life. Most of these televised interviews came from the latter part of Bowie's career.

Anyway - Speaking about the content of Disc #1 - From my perspective - I found this documentary (which was not authorized by Bowie) to be very dry and uninspiring. This presentation struck me as being very amateur and it certainly had the feel of a "rush job" written all over it.

*Note* - This documentary was released in 2014, 2 years before Bowie's death - And, if you ask me - I found "Becoming Bowie" so inferior, on all counts, that (in the light of Bowie's death in 2016) it was a very discreditable production, for the most part.

*Note* - Here are two things that I think the viewer should be aware of before watching "Becoming Bowie" - (1) This production (on 2 discs) was not authorized by David Bowie, his management, or his record company. (2) It was produced in 2014, two years before Bowie's death.

Through stills, film clips, and interviews with recording techs, deejays, etc,, the contents of Disc #1 (presented in a very dry fashion) consists of covering David Bowie's musical career from the years between 1969-1971.

With the release of such albums as Space Oddity and Hunky Dory - This was a time when Bowie's career of worldwide stardom was just about ready to blast off into the "glam rock" stratosphere.

Disc #2 consists of 10 televised interviews with Bowie at different stages of his career (primarily in the latter years).

All-in-all - I personally found this documentary (especially the contents of Disc 1) to be something of a disappointment, as it seemed (for the most part) to be a fairly inferior production and certainly not worthy of its subject..... See for yourself.
