Tautly narrated and excruciatingly suspenseful, Double Indemnity gives us an X-ray view of guilt, of duplicity, and of the kind of obsessive, loveless love that devastates everything it touches. First published in 1936, this novel reaffirmed James M. Cain as a virtuoso of the roman noir. Performed by James Naughton.

This download is incomplete. At the end of the last file (of three) the book ends in mid-sentence. The story seems to be winding down but it clearly is not finished. Too bad because James Cain's noir story is very good and the reader does it proud. I wish I could have heard the ending. I can't find any way other than this comment to inform the library or Overdrive of this fatal flaw in the recording.
