Very good documentary about ballerina Misty Copeland. She is African-American and desired to enter the world of professional ballet; notoriously and historically an elitist white business.

Whether you are interested in ballet, or not - "A Ballerina's Tale" is definitely a bio-documentary that is worth checking out.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri - Misty Copeland is, indeed, a marvelous dancer and in this presentation she tells her tale of struggles and triumphs, both personal and professional.

Since 1995 (age 13) Misty has been active as a ballet dancer and through it all she has always striven to be the best.

Believe me - When you watch this documentary's footage of ballet dancer, Misty Copeland twirling around like a top on the very tips of her toes - You will be delightfully dazzled and awestruck by this woman's astounding agility, balance, and control.

If you are someone who is interested in the fine art of dance - "A Ballerina's Tale" is definitely the kind of bio-documentary that is guaranteed to hold your rapt attention right to the very end.

In this 84-minute presentation - Misty Copeland confidently tells her story (with a little help from her friends) about her personal triumphs and professional achievements that put her directly into the spotlight of being the very first black dancer (in the American Ballet Theater's 75-year history) to be chosen for major parts in their lavish stage productions.

A tremendous athlete who suffered thorough pain, injuries, surgery and rehab. Great form.
Born in Kansas city, MO and raised in a Calif motel, 5 siblings. Very interesting bio on Wikipedia.

Inspiring documentary about Copeland's rise to become the first African-American female principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater. A remarkable story for everyone, even those (like me!) who know nothing about ballet.

Directed by Nelson George in 2015, this 84-minute documentary shows an incredible, behind-the-scenes story of how Misty Copeland overcame outmoded ballet culture stereotypes.
It is a hugely inspirational, profoundly painful and universally fascinating tale of perseverance.

The story was very moving, and Misty was very personal what she shared. Inspirational not just if you are black. Nice mix of dancing and story/talking/commentary from people in her life.

A beautiful video cover with much promise! The video didn't quite live up to it! The beginning and the other parts of the video felt disjointed..
It's an educational video about a forerunner for the black ballerinas, Misty Copeland!
I've learned a lot about the black ballet dancers! While there had been other black ballerinas, Misty has gone the farthest! The ballet world has opened its doors and its minds to allow the black dancers to have the prominent roles! Misty was perfect for this role! She is very gifted! Introduction of the talented black ballerinas has been a huge success in the ballet and outside of it! It brought larger audiences of people in, also!
Misty's accomplishments are legendary! She worked hard! She is a symbol for the black dancers that are following in her footsteps, and other black youths planning their own future!

There needs to be changes in the ballet industry, so that the ballerinas wouldn't get such bad injuries! And much less emphasis on being thin! So outdated! Many of the ballet performance lovers would rather watch healthy dancers than the anorexic ones! More multiculturalism in the ballet would be welcome and more interesting!

I wish there was a more personal side to her in this video! More about her parents and siblings.. Where are they now in her life??
I felt sad for her! She seems so lonely, with her life so wrapped up in the ballet world.. Does she do anything else besides ballet?
The ending was nice, though! Hopeful!
