I really very much enjoyed these documentaries. Each episode is very different but interesting in its own way. I was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend it.

A very interesting documentary series on art theft. I enjoyed this series although it became a bit tiresome at times. A total of 16 stories on art theft needs a break from time to time.

Some of the segments here work better than others- the Klimt paintings, for instance, or the Mona Lisa tale. Others become a bit grating, such as the sting operation involving a civilian who got way too into the part and who makes you feel, when he speaks, like strangling him. Add on the excessive use of re-enactors, the repetitive nature of much of what's being said, and too few translators with the exact same tones in their words, and the series has some issues. This sort of material might have worked better in other hands.

I have only seen the Klimt segment, unfortunately. Judging from that, if you're not expecting anything extremely deep, this series is a cut well above the average true crime program. It is amusing, in a grim way, to have the Nazis called out as thieves by a series entitled The Art of the Heist. But that is what they were; glorified, pretentious thieves and murderers.

We enjoyed this series and seeing the great paintings.
The interview with the relative who won back the Klimt painting was terrific.
It was a mix of re-enactment and detective and art dealers.
If you didn't see the PBS series, check it out.

Watched the first two episodes before giving up. Shoddy production with information repeated and the reenactments of crimes are laughable.
Also as well as interviewing cops, detectives witness's etc, convicted criminals are interviewed for their self serving 'theories'.
Don't bother.
