Luther 4 is getting worse and worse as they go on! The first 2 were much better and 3 kind of sucked too! 4 is only 2 episodes whats up with that?

Luther faced off with a horrible though generic monster while forced to dance around a powerful mobster. Nice soundtrack, catchy London slangs and a worthwhile watch for those Luther/Elba fans waiting for Season 5 which is in production at BBC. BTW, previous comments said anti-hero Morgan is dead … not so fast in mho. The death scene was off camera and even Luther was not quite sure that she’s dead. So there is hope. ★★⅔

Still quite suspenseful but kind of flat since Alice Morgan - the mysterious help/ally/accomplice is dead.

Fell flat. Not as good as season 1.
Plot did not develop. Not really worth watching.

I thought they tried to put to much into only 2 EPS. Overall I still liked it.

I have enjoyed the Luther series and really enjoy Idris but this short "extra" series did not have the same oomph as the regular series did. It was " ok "

I think Idris Elba is a fine actor and I have enjoyed the Luther series until this latest installment. I was disappointed that the story line was not a straight forward murder investigation. Bookwoman & AbbyTabby

Tense, complex story. Idris is a great actor.

This last in the series was underwhelming to say the least. What started off as an unusual take on the police procedural with Luther bending the rules due to the reality of catching criminals and fighting his own demons, ends with a whimper and formulaic story of a serial killer that eats his victims. We've seen this before, and more well-done. Too bad this series couldn't sustain its high level of writing and innovation.

It is very unfortunate we do not get more insight about what really happened to Alice Morgan.

Your phone's off. You're wanted.
-That's why my phone's off.
===
How goes it?
-Fair to middling.
===
Crikey! Pretty close to the edge.

I mean, yeah, it does look like her, but it's not her.
===
Are you ok? Really?
-Yeah. Everything's tickety boo. Totally disco.
===
No cleaner man, not since the chap in the manger.
===
Boss, what do we do with something like this?
-We keep going. Trace it back to a point of origin. First cause. And there we will find our man.

How's your thing?
- Not great. Playing catch-up with some bedlamite. Following his spoor back to source.
===
Recognise her?
-Nope. I wouldn't mind, though. Chung, innit?
Chung?
===
Are you really a copper?
-Sort of.
And this is your gaff, is it?
-Sort of.
===
How long do you think you've got before my firm are popping your eyeballs out with their thumbs?
-Yeah. I don't care, George, you don't scare me.
===
Well, what can I say? It's a lot of money, and at the end of the day, I'm a thief.
===
There are some things that you might have heard about me that quite possibly could be true.

Guv, Steven Rose could be on his way to his next victim, and we won't know who that is unless we are in there!
-The answer is "no". If you want to discuss it further, we can do it back at the factory.
I think I hear someone in there. In fact, I can! I can hear someone screaming for help.
-DCI Luther...
Exigent circumstances, sir!
===
The way he sees it, they got something that he needs so, he's just going to take it from them. No, he's never going to stop, he's just going to keep doing it and doing it, because he'll never get back whatever he's lost. None of us ever do.
===
'If I start showing weakness to him... well, it's nature's way, isn't it?' The Lion King. Hakuna Matata.
-Er, I think you're thinking about the wrong song.
What one am I thinking of, then? … Oh, "Hakuna Matata", that's the happy one, right? "No more worries." That one. That's the one.

You didn't love her, not really. She frightened you and she excited you... and you mistook that for love. But you would have killed her, eventually. If she didn't kill you first.
===
So, you're a dead man walking. Toodle pip.
===
Well, there's this thing. Cotard's Syndrome.
-OK. It's a delusional mental illness and the patient thinks that he's dead and decomposing.
===
You like to think about her when you're having a little play with yourself?
-See, that's exactly the sort of thing she would say, if she was here.
===
One of your boys just had a pop at me.
-Well, obviously I don't know what you're talking about, officer. But if I did, I'd probably say, "They wouldn't be my boys, specifically." See, if you've been greenlit, allegedly, every would be hit man in London would be after you. How was he, by the way?
- Rubbish.
Whoopsie daisy.

What are we now, psychic?
- Yeah, funny you should say that.
On the basis of this... funny feeling in your belly, you are asking for what? A stay of execution? They broke the mould after you popped out, didn't they? Yeah. That's what my mum used to say.
-Your sainted mother.
Is this another appeal to my maudlin East End heart?
-No. Whatever.
Well, I hated my mother, John. And greenlit is greenlit, I'm afraid. It's out of my hands. I'll see you on the other side of the veil.
===
You ever hear of the... confirmation bias?
-I beg your pardon?
We all do it.
===
Owen, get the door.
- Who died and made you God?
===
Well, we should call in armed response.
-Yeah. We... we should do that.
Except last time we did that he got away... So, what do we do?
- We do it right.
Good answer.
===
Well, as it happens, I often find that money has an elevating effect on my frame of mind.
