Peter Bergen has written extensively on terrorism; his latest book is about "homegrown" terrorists, including, most famously, the Boston bombers. It's fine, but it doesn't add much to our understanding, especially if you follow the news. He does point out that about the same amount of people have died from right-wing extremists as terrorists since 9/11. Two other books worth looking at: "Isis: The State of Terror" and "Black Flags: The Rise of Isis."

A realistic look at home grown or lone wolf terrorists. If one is concerned, it is better to have the facts rather than hype.

Over the last 15 years, there have been approximately 45 people in America killed by American bred Islamic terrorists (an average of 3 persons a year). The book explores the activities of American bred Islamic terrorists, many of who stayed to wreak havoc in America. Chicagoan David Headley, probably the most effective, traveled to Mumbai, India, posing as a tourist agency worker, so that he could provide Pakistani terrorists with detailed photos and maps. This enabled ten highly trained terrorists to murder more than 150 people in several public populated areas of Mumbai. A sad fact brought out in the book is that politicians use the threat of Islamic terrorism to make the voters forget that while in the last 15 years, 45 Americans have been killed by terrorists in America, hundreds of thousands have been killed by uncontrolled ownership of guns. In America, criminals, abusive wife beaters, the mentally ill, and people on the terror watch list have free access to guns through the gun show loophole and straw purchases.
