This exact book - this author, this edition - is an excellent introduction to and walk through Arduino.

This book is absolutely awesome if you are a newcomer to Arduino to say the least. The way it explains IDE programming and sketches is very intuitive, much better than the examples on the experimenter's kit for UNO.
I'm going to buy my own copy of this book.
