Lovely lass and crew that command the law fairly, with kindness, and the accents are as grand as Poirot--enjoy. kayt

Vera is a great series. The stories are well written and the characters are well done.

Agree with another commentor, Brenda calling everyone "love" is annoying and feels inappropriate. But otherwise truly enjoy her character. Miss the previous "Joe". Great series!! Will watch again down-the-road.

I love Vera. My husband and I both watch these. Great acting, great scenery. Brits know how to create a good mystery with subtly. It's not too dark or gratuitous. Vera is a curmudgeon with some gravitas. Very enjoyable entertainment.

The cast change did not do this series any favors. The new partner is flat and boring, and he is annoying. Adding a differently-abled person was nice, but they make sure you NOTICE that she is different. The stories are still very good, and Vera's backstory is no long intruding on her work. Vera is still the best British crime solver since Miss Marple.

Vera is the girl equivalent of disheveled old TV dectective Frost, but the show is better quality. If you liked Broadchurch, Frost, Foyle, or any of those British crime shows, you will like this show. It's more realistic (less of a sitcom, less gently-making-fun-of-itself) than Midsomer Murders, Campion, Miss Fisher, the one with the garden ladies, or the Agatha Christie stuff. I have started at set#5, but I will go get the other seasons now.
