This book is filled with adventure, suspense, thriller, sadness, and some fear. There are many emotions included within this book. While reading, I laughed, cried, feared and got scary vibes. This was my first ever book I read in 13 years and loved it. And I am very sure, I will finish reading the whole series.

i loved it. one of the bests book i've read in a while

The book has the ultimate parent agreement - the kids love it, it is part educational, and is funny. What more could you need? Percy is a 12 year old boy who is living with his mom and step dad, Gabe. When he goes on a holiday in the summer with his mom, he finds out that his real dad is Poseidon, and there are more children like him. When he arrives at the camp for all the demigods, he finds out he needs to stop a war between the gods, or he might not be around for much longer. I would suggest this book for ages 10-16, because any younger and it would be too scary, and any older and it would be boring. This book is lots of fun, and I suggest it a lot.

This was one of the first book series I always aspired to read, even though my kid-self had thought reading was one of the worst activities in the whole world. Percy's constant sarcasm and heroic quests is the reason I savor every moment I have reading.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, better known as the first novel in the Percy Jackson franchise, was the beginning of a legacy. The book follows young, troubled student Percy Jackson in his earliest years as he discovers more about his ancestry, specifically that his father was a god. Percy meets kids like him at Camp Half-Blood, where he establishes new bonds and creates new memories year after year throughout the entire series. But the Lightning Thief is the book where it all began. In this novel, Percy goes on a quest with two new friends, Annabeth and Grover. He constantly feels the need to show them what he is capable of because he wants to show that he belongs in their world. Percy goes to great lengths to achieve this acceptance which is very admirable. Percy is persistent, slightly impulsive, and fun-loving, which makes him an incredible and interesting main character for the franchise. He goes through the unthinkable for a young boy and grows from that and becomes more educated and immersed in his ancestry on his fathers side. I also loved that this book was educational on greek mythology and teaches readers about that culture more so. I learned a lot about that topic simply from reading this series and have been drawn to it since, as the way the mythology is portrayed in a modern way is both exciting and educational. The Percy Jackson series is one of the most popular book series today, and rightfully so, in my opinion. I loved this novel and it is what pushed me to read his entire series until the very end. I would rate this novel a 5/5.

I really enjoyed this book and it made me realize that the book is explaining how everyone is different or unique in their own way. This book is about a boy named Percy and he has had many problems fitting in at school. He has been kicked out of school multiple times and sees things that know one else normally sees. When Percy gets attacked by a mythological creature he soon finds out that something terrible has happened. Zeus's master lightning bolt was stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Now with the help of some new friends Percy must find out who has taken it and return it in just ten days. All he has to do is follow the oracle and unravel the secrets of his life. I give this book a 4.5/5 star rating.

This book was very interesting and I really enjoyed it. There was lots of action and adventure. Percy Jackson has unique characteristics and is very cool. His friend Grover is a very funny character and is half man – half goat. Annabeth who is Percy’s girlfriend is a very kind person and is also very smart. The book was really well written in terms of the fighting scenes. This book had many suspenseful parts as well which left me very determined to find out what was going to happen next. I felt very connected to this book because it gets very emotional at some parts too.

Rick Riordan is the funniest MG writer I know, and this iconic start to his world of the Olympians is worth reading again and again.

“Hades raised an eyebrow. When he sat forward in his throne, shadowy faces appeared in the folds of his black robes, faces of torment,as if the garment was stitched of trapped souls from the Fields of Punishment, trying to get out. The ADHD part of me wondered, off-task, whether the rest of his clothes were made the same way. What horrible things would you have to do in your life to get woven into Hades' underwear?”

“In a way, it's nice to know that there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong. For instance, when you're walking away from a bus that's just been attacked by monster hags and blown up by lightning, and it's raining on top of everything else, most people might think that's just really bad luck; when you're a half-blood, you understand that some devine force is really trying to mess up your day.”
