The acting from the adults is great, but the movie itself is thin. Two kids steal a cop car, and the sheriff is one bad dude. That's it. The movie drags, with long sequences of nothing much going on. The climax is a bit tense but the ending is very underwhelming. Not worth a viewing for Kevin bacon unfortunately.

I was pretty underwhelmed by this whole affair- Kevin Bacon was alright but the movie couldn't pull off it's ambitious premise.

Like a skewed redux of "Stand By Me" helmed by Quentin Tarantino, writer/director Jon Watts’ rip-roaring black and bloody comedy is a masterstroke of indie moviemaking. Filmed in the wilds of rural Colorado with nothing but wide open skies and tumbleweeds for props, his clueless naifs (remarkable performances from Hays Wellford and James Freedson-Jackson) provide a darkly humorous contrast to Kevin Bacon’s growling moustachioed villain leading to a climax that is both shockingly outrageous and oddly sympathetic. With a constant smirk at America’s appetite for guns and violence—the boys’ fascination with an onboard cache of police weapons leads to some harrowingly funny segments—Watts has produced a coming-of-age road movie that begins with a joke and ends with sirens blaring.

10-year-old runaways steal the cop car of one *bad* sheriff. Certainly well enough done to warrant a viewing. Good acting, and even Kevin Bacon holds up his end of the bargain. Recommended.

Kevin Bacon always plays really great bad men! In COP CAR, he does it again! In this movie, he's up against 2 kids. Will he outsmart them or will THEY outsmart him?

A cute film for kids and adults alike. Two best friends, boys about 10, are running away from home when they come across an abandoned cop car. With no one around, they get in and start driving. What they don't know is that the cop was two miles away from the car burying a dead body. The dead guy's brother is in the trunk, not quite dead yet. Eventually the kids get caught in the crossfire between the cop trying to get his car back (and the beat up guy in the trunk) while the guy in the trunk tries to exact revenge for his murdered brother. Neither of them cares at all about the boys. And the boys are pretty dumb when it comes to loaded guns.

Probably one of the most memorable movies I've seen within the last year or so. Unpredictable, unnerving, and fantastic.

The type of movie that ticks off a dumb audience who needs everything explained to them.

This movie annoys with perfection! I really believe the characters motivations and actions. Maybe you have to understand the poor, young boys and angry men to really get this.

This movie held my attention, which is saying something. But, the ending kept me wondering. I am sure that was intentional. I really liked the kids. They were quite good in a realistic way, of boys being curious and getting themselves into more than they bargained for. It was different, but good.

Woman driver yelling at the kids:
I knew it! You little shxxs! I knew I wasn't crazy! You think you can ride down this highway and I won't know about it? I know these roads like the back of my hand! What's wrong with you? Don't think you can play dumb with me. I saw you. You almost ran me off the road. You are in so much trouble! Get out of the car!

Sheriff scared up the kids:
Alright, kids. Fun's over. I know who you are, and you are in a whole hell of a lot of trouble. Do you understand? It's downright stupid to steal a police car, but you've done it. Now, what's done is done. And what we're looking at is a felony offense. A felony offense. And what that means is guaranteed jail time.

Boys A & B commenting on the guy outside:
A: What's he doing?
B: I don't know.
A: Maybe he's looking to go to the bathroom.
B: I hate him. I think he's trying to hide.
A: He sucks at hiding.
B: Why does he need both guns?
He's a gun hog.
