A well-written history of St. Marks Place in NYC from a writer who actually grew up on the street. While she begins the story way back in Dutch New York, most of the book focuses on post-1950. Lots of fascinating details and interviews with people of all backgrounds who have had connections with the street. And yes, there is plenty of material to fill an entire book with the story of one single street!
