Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here. It's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

It did get a little confusing the during the third and fourth book. Mostly the fourth.

I really enjoyed this book.... I read it right after I finished Fangirl and I totally fell in love with Simon and Baz (even more than I was when I read Fangirl)
I love Rainbow Rowell's writing and this book doesn't disappoint.
It is similar to other fantasy stories (i.e. Harry Potter) but it stand on its own with its own story and ideas, so it's perfect - even if u haven't read Harry Potter (i haven't :)

Enjoy!

This book gave me life. If you ever shipped Harry Potter with Draco Malfoy, welcome to Carry On! This is my favorite book of all time, rivaled only by Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe. This is an AWESOME story of magic, power, rivalry, justice, mystery, romance, growing up, and simply carrying on. I wish this book never ended, like at ALL. I fell in love with Carry On back in Fangirl, and was downright THRILLED when this book came out. Rainbow Rowell is the best author ever, never shying away from harder, less talked about topics, and not shying away from ta cuss word here or there. I've read every one of her books so far, and can't wait for the next one. This book is worth your time, and don't give up in the middle. The plot twists will have you on the edge of your seat. Thank you so much Rainbow for writing this work of ART! Must read this book, like NOW people!

Carry On is amazing! It reminded me why I love to read - fantasy, mystery, romance... I could not put it down!
It's a great book that Harry Potter fans will enjoy, and you definitely don't need to have read Fangirl first to read (and love) this book. I definitely recommend it!

Okay, this book definitely got better as it went along. But man...it was so slow to start. I almost DNF'ed it. Twice. It was brutal to get through. That's why it doesn't have a higher rating. Because in my opinion, this book could have shaved off the first 150-200 pages and been 10x better.

That being said, once it picked up, I was hooked. I wanted to finish it faster than my audiobook would allow. It was fast paced and the mystery was picking up. I was much more into the character development and the relationships, romantic and platonic. I found the plot predictable but still kept wanting to find out if I was right.

It was cheesy and good at the end and I liked that The Chosen One story was different. I also appreciate the magickal therapist and the mentions to trauma. The implications of a life AFTER the adventure were great as well. So yeah, good but too long.

If you haven't read Harry Potter, don't read this book.

If you have... welcome to heaven.

Rainbow Rowell somehow managed to turn her Harry Potter/ Draco Malfoy fanfic into A FREAKING NOVEL!!!!! It's amazing!

There's magic, adventure, mystery, despair, love, friendship, betrayal, comedy and murder.

JUST. READ. IT.

One of the best books I've ever read. Beautifully written.

A creative and entertaining story on its own; even better if you've already read Rowell's "Fangirl" to fully appreciate it as a gentle parody/loving homage to Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter fanfiction

“He shakes his head, and he's saying something, and I think I might kiss him. Because I've never kissed anyone before. (I was afraid I might bite.) And I've never wanted to kiss anyone but him.
