"At work, L.A. Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson is a woman in charge. Got a suspect to grill, a case to crack, a murderer about to walk? Call Brenda in and watch the fireworks. But at home ... well, that's another story ... As a cop, Brenda takes on everything from a corpse that comes COD to a serial killer to Sharon Raydor, an internal affairs officer as tough as she is. As a civilian, Brenda loses one family member ('bye, Kitty) and gains another: her surly niece Charlie. Brenda can outsmart, outmaneuver and out a killer, but can she handle a teenager?"--Cover.

Not to worry as the follow on with Mary McDonnell does not disappoint. Appropriate that both The Closer and Major Crimes scored the same on IMDb.

I love this show, too! I'm dismayed to see that it will end soon and turn into "Major Crimes" with a different female lead. I love that Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Jphnson always closes her cases, even when it seems unlikely. I am SO GLAD the library has TV shows on DVD! I really hope they continue to expand on it (and the documentaries!).

Kyra Sedgewick is absolutely fantastic as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, it almost feels as though the role was written exclusively for her. The rest of the cast is equally as good, and this show is very well scripted. I would highly recommend this show to fans of police dramas. This show will not leave you feeling disappointed in the least.

Through five seasons it has been quite a ride with Brenda and her team. One never knows where the cases will lead the team. Brenda always seems to figure out a way to solve her cases and usually gets a confession. Unusual and griping story lines complimented with a great supporting cast. Very entertaining.

Lt. Provenza: Buzz, why don't you show her one of my old interviews.
Buzz: Sure. How about the one with you and John Wilkes Booth?

Pope: What's wrong?
Brenda: I just forgot to take Kitty ourt of my purse this morning.
Pope: Out of ... where is she?
Brenda: She's here.
Pope: I gather she took a turn for the worse.

Raydor: She basically just threatened to have this man killed right in front of me.
Taylor: He works with Nazis. Should I get you a tissue to dry your tears?
