I just discovered this author and I am looking forward to reading some of her other books. It was interesting how she wove the Amish culture into her story line. I learned some things that I did not know before.
This is the EIGHTH bookin the Kate Burkholder series set in Amish country in Ohio. Kate, the police chief, was raised in the faith, but was excommunicated. She still has conflicts about her loyalty to the Amish community versus the "English" as they call the outsiders. The mysteries usually involve the Amish people as victims and / or perpetrators of crimes. The books are nice, solid mystery / police procedural reads. As with all series I always recommend starting with the first in the set, as the history of the main character explains her subsequent behaviors / conflicts. If you are wondering.... a good source to find the first in almost any author's series is " Fantastic Fiction" a GREAT website!!!! *************AUDIOBOOK REQUESTED THRU MNLink
There are a few small plot holes in this book, which wasn't quite as strong for me as the other books in the series. But, as usual, Linda Castillo tells a riveting story.
Castillo doesn't disappoint. Entertaining read, fast-paced, with the mix of the Amish world to add a special touch to her novels
This is the first of two "new release" novels, I read back to back, that featured "murder by pig". In the case of this novel the murder occurred in the first chapter so I cannot consider it a spoiler but I shall not reveal the identity of the second book. tee hee.
