Oh I think the reviews both by Kirkus and others here are a little unfair. SOMEONE has to live this fabulous life, and that she can write compellingly about her charmed life is Amanda Brook's gift to the rest of us.

Really, this book is no worse than the countless lifestyle fashion blogs littering the interwebs, but the big difference is that Brooks has an incredible, recognizable network of creative people, she's a good writer--candid about her life, and not afraid to share some unflattering stories about herself--and her book is beautifully presented with photographs that align with her professional life in fashion, and now in lifestyle branding. What else is she supposed to do? Give her a break, she's making her living, and it looks like a pretty nice one if you ask me.

Brook's book compels me to consider my own trajectory (albeit a more modest one), but that is her intent: to share and inspire her cohort. That she does so from a lofty place is part of the fantasy. You have got to have extreme ends of memoir in order to understand all women, and Brooks to her credit, does a fine job in presenting what she knows.

Vapid. Like driving through the Lincoln Tunnel (no air, no light, you can't wait for it to end). Her "fashion is my raison d'etre" life bored her so much, she had to move to a farm in England. No doubt she will write another book with lots of observations about THAT (but no insights). Avoid unless you are an airhead.
